786 Woman - Acrylic ink portrait painting on paper

This portrait of (an unknown to me) Australian actress was painted on the yukky cheap watercolour paper.

My collection of reference pictures has many images from the 1980's, which is about the time I started collecting my "morgue". I didn't always keep the captions telling me who the photo was of. Now, I (nearly) always write on the picture who it is. However, I also collected images of models and they never gave names. To me, they go in my "family, friends and strangers" file!

For this piece I didn't bother to shield any areas, and because the paper was highly textured it collected a lot of overspray and made the final result a bit muddy. However, I was attracted to the image for the combination of reddish-brown hair and black clothing.

Usually, after drawing or painting from a reference image I destroy the image. This image I think I kept, and I just might have a go at it again sometime with better paper and a bit more time and effort on my part.
