Another celebrity portrait in what appears to be turning out to be my "usual style" of acrylic ink on watercolour paper. I started with a pencil sketch and then masked the outline of the head and shoulders using a sheet of paper to keep the background clean. If you look closely, you can see that I leave the pencil lines showing. Because I use transparent inks and I don't bother to erase the pencil marks they become part of the finished art.
This particular portrait was painted mainly using brown, yellow and red. Mostly I use only one or two passes of colour and that is why red looks pink. To get red I would have to make multiple passes to build the layers of colour.
A fine paint brush and brown ink was used for the hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. White highlights were also added with the paintbrush. Pink was roughly painted on with a paintbrush for his tie, and purple was lightly sprayed on the background behind his neck and shoulders.
